And how I stopped letting it run me\u2014and started letting it light me up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For a long time, urgency was just how I moved through the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It pushed me forward, gave me focus, helped me show up and deliver when it mattered most.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And in many ways, it worked\u2014until it didn\u2019t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What made me stop and question it wasn\u2019t a full-blown burnout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was the realization that in the middle of all that doing and driving, chasing, and crashing,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I couldn\u2019t really see the people I loved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I couldn\u2019t offer a presence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I couldn\u2019t give, not in the way I wanted to\u2014not without urgency making everything feel like a transaction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There were moments, too many, where I was physically there but emotionally somewhere else,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
locked into the next thing, the next fix, the next tick on the list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That\u2019s what made me pause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That\u2019s what made me wonder:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If urgency was helping me get things done\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
why did it feel like it was taking something from me, too?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Urgency, for me, was never just about rushing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was about aliveness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It lit the fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It helped me take action, make bold moves, focus with intensity when I really cared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It wasn\u2019t the enemy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But I didn\u2019t know how to live with it without disappearing into it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When urgency ran the show, I lost myself in the speed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When I tried to shut it down, I lost access to the spark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What I needed wasn\u2019t less urgency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What I needed was a new way of navigating it\u2014an intentional relationship with it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With myself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With how I moved through the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These days, I still feel that familiar charge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But I\u2019ve stopped letting it drive blind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Now, I notice:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is what living my ADHD on purpose looks like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not managing away the intensity, but learning how to be present inside of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not muting my fire, but finally knowing how to stand beside it without burning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Urgency is still part of me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It moves fast. It still lights me up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But now, I get to choose what I give it to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
